SinC goes to Hollywood!

SinC Goes To the Movies: Selling Books To Hollywood
Published mystery authors learned all about the road from novel to screen at a special conference, November 3-5, 2006 at the Writers Guild in Hollywood. The weekend included a tour of Sony Pictures Studio, a seminar on how to pitch, a screening of "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" followed by a Q&A with two of the show's writer/producers, and panels of screenwriters, TV writers, entertainment agents, and TV and movie producers and development executives. For the climax, each attendee was scheduled for a five-minute pitch with a producer or development executive. Stay tuned for more details on this site and in the spring newsletter. And who knows? Maybe we'll be announcing a TV or movie deal!

SinC's calendar girls and guys

New England Chapter publishes 2007 calendar
What do a poisoned martini, a body buried in the suburbs, and a deadly car ride have in common? They are all part of a mysterious calendar published this fall by the New England Chapter of Sisters in Crime.

When the national SinC board challenged its chapters for proposals to celebrate the organization's twentieth anniversary, New England Chapter treasurer Ruth McCarty came up with the winning idea. The calendar features Roger Leo's photographs of over sixty New England authors and SinC members, including Janet Evanovich on an excavator with biker chicks, an "autopsy" performed by author Tess Gerritsen on author Jeremiah Healy, and many others. Visit the SinC New England Chapter site for more information.

Bouchercon blast!

SinC Launches 20th Anniversary with Bouchercon Bash!
On September 30, Sisters in Crime and their guests gathered to launch the organization's 20th anniversary year. Newly-installed president Rochelle Krich welcomed goddesses (past-presidents) Nancy Pickard, Margaret Maron, Carolyn Hart, Eve Sandstrom, Sue Henry, Kate Flora, and Libby Hellmann. The evening was capped when Parnell Hall performed a song he'd written for the occasion.
